O que dizer sobre mim?
Comecei a fotografar com uma velha Canon FTb QL, analógica, claro está. Isso foi algures por 1982, suponho. Entretanto, apaixonei-me por uma Nikon F3 que tinha o pai da minha outra paixão da altura, um amor de Verão, que duraria uns anos.
A paixão da Nikon ficou-me para sempre. A minha primeira analógica foi uma Nikon F80. Fiz muito slides de viagem e fotografia em geral com filme, quer a cores, quer a preto e branco. Mais tarde, tive uma Nikon Coolpix, compacta. Foi a minha primeira máquina digital. Depois tive uma D80, uma D300, uma D7000, uma D40 (oferecida) e finalmente uma Nikon D5600, companheira de muitas aventuras. É uma máquina estupenda, que ainda funciona.
A última aquisição foi uma Fujifilm X-T3, que comprei usada e que se tem revelado uma ferramenta perfeita para o meu desenvolvimento fotográfico recente.
Atrai-me muito a fotografia de rua, embora no meu caso seja mais uma versão de fotografia de viagem em que tento integrar a vida humana dos lugares, mas o meu olhar vai muito para além disso. Gosto muito de fotografia de arquitectura, mas não tenho feito muita.
Vibro muito com o trabalho da Francesca Woodman e o do Arno Rafael Minkkinen. Estão ambos ali em cima na secção que designei “Inspiration”. Anseio por criar alguns projectos com mais volume e dedicação do que os que tenho feito. Tenho mais do que um na cabeça, mas ainda não encontrei o momento de lhes dar expressão prática.
Tenho sentido o apelo para fotografar em lugares menos urbanos, formas de viver mais ligadas à natureza, algo mais próximo da reportagem.
Veremos o que aparecerá por aqui num futuro próximo.

What about me?
When I first started photography with purpose, I was using the old Canon FTb QL, from my father, an analog camera, obviously. That was around 1982. Meanwhile, I fell in love with the Nikon F3, which was the camera owned by my other pation at the time, a summer love which lasted a few years.
The pation for the Nikon cameras stayed forever. My first analog camera was the Nikon F80 with which I took many photos and slides mostly while travelling, but later also with the family. The first digital camera was a Nikon Coolpix, a compact camera. Then I had a few DSLR, all Nikon: D80, D300, D7000, D40 and the last one was the D5600, a small superb camera I still use every now and then.
Recently I bought a Fujifilm X-T3, because I feel that Fuji somehow inherited the spirit of Nikon with their kind of retro design. This camera is being the perfect tool for my actual artistic development.
I feel attracted for street photography, but in my case a version turned more towards travelling photography where I try to integrate the human life on the places I visit, but my look goes way beyond that. I also enjoy architecture photography (the only genre I made as professional assignment), but I haven’t explored it much recently.
I am a huge fan of the work of Francesca Woodman and Arno Rafael Minkkinen, although I haven’t followed their paths myself (so far at least). Both can be seen on the section above which I called “Inspiration”. I am willing to create projects with more volume and dedication than what I have invested lately. I have a few in my head but haven’t yet find the right moment to give them practical expression.
I am also feeling a call to shoot on less urban environments, ways of living more connected to nature, something closer to journalism.
Let’s see what will show up here in the near future.
